LPNs are highly skilled and educated staff. They carry many responsibilities on their shoulders such as bedside care, feeding and hygiene of patient, movement and care of patient, maintaining the atmosphere healthy and comfortable for the patient and most importantly checking the medical history of the patient. They are actively involved in preparing the medical plan or strategy of the patient and also help in implementation of the strategy also.

LPN works under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RN) and follow their guidelines. LPNs take care of the medication of the patient but do not have a right to change the prescription without consulting a physician or an advanced nurse practitioner.

The eligibility criterion is as follows:-

• Minimum age requirement is 18 years.
• High school graduation/GED must be completed before the registration in training program.
• A basic background/Felony check is done to ensure your character and behavioral activities.
• An additional interview may or may not be conducted.
• Note that some colleges give admission on basis of ACT test.

Training programs are 1-2 years long and operate in multiple sessions and shifts. You can opt for a morning/evening/weekend classes program as per you own wish. The training programs are inexpensive and costs around $3000-$5000 in community colleges. You can apply for a scholarship or a financial aid program and you can even get the reimbursement of your training expenses.

The average salary of a LPN in Louisiana is $41200 per year. More than 6500 students graduate every year from these training programs and try their best at NXLEX-PN examination. In case some of you don’t know, NCLEX-PN is the certification examination for LPN and licenses are issued on clearance of this examination only.
